Proposal for the approach of torsional restraint by sandwich panels under uplifting loads

Abstract Sandwich panels are able to support their substructure against failure resulting from stability loss. Especially for the thin‐walled cross‐sections, practical spans can often only be realized by taking stabilization into account. In mechanics, this described as a combination of shear field and torsional restraint. However, load self‐weight wind suction, is usually applied flange in tension, which means that slight effects added system. addition, there no standardisation approach restraint under uplifting loads. Recent investigations showed on one hand reduction loads given literature correct, but other hand, they offer specific quantification reduction. Thus, qualified estimation applicable loads, based tests calculations using finite element method, made possible basis well‐founded mechanical model. The scientific background well model proposal its application construction practice below.
